Clarastill eye drops are an aqueous solution containing 0.3% carboxymethylcellulose, intended for application to ocular tissues and providing protective, nourishing, moisturising and coating effects (mechanical effects of contact lenses, sunlight, smoke, airborne particles, air conditioning, radiation emitted by computer equipment). Thanks to the properties of the antioxidant they contain and their free-radical scavenging activity, this medical device protects ocular tissues (vitreous body, lens, cornea, conjunctiva) against the effects of oxidative stress caused by adverse environmental conditions and facilitates their restoration to a normal condition through natural mechanisms.
The physiological sodium chloride solution on which the device is based remains in contact with the ocular surface for only a few seconds, providing a short-term beneficial effect. The addition of glycerol causes water to be released from ocular tissues, resulting in a moisturising effect and the formation of a thin aqueous layer on the corneal surface, while the addition of carboxymethylcellulose causes a viscoelastic gel to form on its surface. The hydrogel formed in this way on the corneal surface has properties analogous to the rheological properties of natural tear fluid and exhibits the same mucoadhesive effect, thus providing protective, nourishing, moisturising and coating effects without causing temporary visual disturbances (blurred vision) in the user.
The product contains N-acetylcarnosine as an excipient. It has no specific pharmacological action, but its properties as a natural antioxidant enable it to scavenge free radicals and thus protect ocular tissues (vitreous body, cornea, lens, conjunctiva) against lipid peroxides.

Usually, instil 1-2 drops of Clarastill daily into the conjunctival sac by gently squeezing the bottle. The drops may be used more frequently as required.

The product contains no quaternary ammonium salts (benzalkonium, cetrimide) and may therefore be used by wearers of hard and soft contact lenses.

Do not touch the eye with the dropper tip during instillation. Do not use if there are signs of an eye infection. Do not instil concomitantly with other ophthalmic products. Do not use in the event of known hypersensitivity to any of the product ingredients. Do not use after the expiry date. Discard any remaining product 30 days after first opening the packaging.

Store below 25°C. After first opening, refrigerate at a temperature between 2°C and 8°C.

Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
